About Us

The Chappaquiddick Summer Music Festival presents concerts of chamber music on consecutive Thursday evenings in late July and August. Featuring a repertoire of both traditional and contemporary works, the festival presents both small ensembles and individual artists. Recognized artists who have performed include the Borromeo, Jupiter and Chiara String Quartets, The Claremont Trio, Trio Solisti, violinists Jennifer Koh and Andrew Kohji Taylor, cellist Inbal Segev, clarinetist Todd Palmer, pianist Judith Gordon, and jazz musicians Ayn Inserto and George Garzone.

The festival, which celebrates its fifteenth anniversary in 2010, takes place at the Chappaquiddick Community Center, called by the Martha's Vineyard Times, "one of the best acoustic rooms available on Martha's Vineyard". The rustic beauty of the center, with its great stone fireplace and surrounding fields, adds to the concert experience. The Community Center also plans exhibitions of local artists to coincide with the concert series, transforming the intimate little hall, which seats just 120, into a warm and exciting arts center. Receptions held after each concert allow the audience to meet and talk with the artists.

The concert series is sustained by a deeply appreciative and enthusiastic audience. Their support, in all areas, has allowed the series to evolve from one featuring good amateurs to one that now includes some of the finest national and international performers.
